What Causes Missing Periods?

I missed my period this month,my last period started on 11th nov 2012 ,a normal 5 days bleeding.Normally i used to have a 28 day cycle,im worried about this missed periods and im planing to have meprate tablet 2 tablets for 3 days,is there any problem in having meprate? I am 23 yrs old,169cm hight and 51 kg weight.
