What Causes Pain In Arms And Shoulder?

Hi, I have a very painful right arm and shoulder, i had an injection about six weeks ago, but the pain is starting to come back I am 57 years old and work as an auxiliary nurse full time and don't want to have any more time off work, what can be causing this and is there an alternative other than injections
