What Causes Red Spots On The Back Of Knee Joints?

I just noticed red spots on the back of my knee joints, like blotches , just where the knee bends. They do not itch and are inside the skin. Almost like a bleeding pattern. I have no pain or discomfort, What are they? I am 42 years old and recently I have gained about 2o pounds. I have no history of any illness.
