What Causes Swelling In Stomach?

I have been diagnosed with adenomyosis. My stomach has continued to swell and I have rapidly put on weight. I run20mikes a week to no avail. The swelling is worse in the evening. Could this be related to the adenomyosis. My doctor has recommended a hysterectomy but I am scared to go through with it.
