I have had congestive heart failure for 9 years and am presently only 51 years of age. I am being treated by a cardiologist and take medication faithfully, Have annual checks with the cardiologist, try to care of my health as much as possible, get an annual flu shot and have been quite healthy the past two years. I also had a mild heart attack a couple of years ago on top of the cong. heart failure. Needless to say, I worry about my heart. Currently I have been struggling from a very nasty cold/flu - obviously a strain that the shot did not cover. I went to the local Dr. and he seemed very comfortable with sending me home saying it is viral and I have probably dealt with the worst of it. I don't know if he realizes all my heart conditions even tho' it states it in my records. He didn't test me for strep or do any sort of swab test. I am having such tightness in my chest - I go from chills to being hot - my whole body aches, but I do not have any raspy breathing or irregular breathing. I have zero energy but can't sleep well either as I can't get comfortable laying down. I worry that there is something more here than a cold ??? Am I overreacting and should I continue to wait it out?
