What Causes Vaginal Itching?

this just started yesterday as soon as i got home from work my vagaina is very itcy and it burns a little bit it is very sore as well. i was fine all morning untill i put a tampon in and it was not rubbing me the right way so i took it out but when i got home my vagaina was very itcy and sore and swollen could this be because of the way the tampon was rubbing. my clitorus is very sensative as well
please help me.
