What Could A Boil After Getting Belly Button Piercing Indicate?

hi I was wondering if boils are a virus? I've had my belly button peirced for about a year and a half now and just yesterday a boil type thing came up tight by it and it poped in the shower about 20 minutes ago it was very white on the tip. will it spread?
