What Could Be White Patches Appearing On Chest In 3.5 Year Old?

Hi, My daughter is 3.5 years old and she has a white patch on her left side of her chest. we started noticing it when she was 6months old.Is this a skin disorder ? will it get cured automatically.when i consulted the child specialist,we were told that it's a birth mark. Please advise.
