Two nites ago, at bedtime, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., had an attack of intense pulsing pain in mid-back, at the waist, from an inch or two from the spine, to the left side. The size of a hand held horizontally. It was continuous, this rhythmic pulsing hard pain. Tried to feel if it were the kidney. It was deep muscular base. No sense of the kidney. Then, a hard, visual of pain in left shoulder socket, from the front of the socket area wrapping around just past the mid-line of the left side. The visual of the shoulder socket was a hard contrast in pain. This shoulder pain after a short time. The tenderness & pain of the left back waist continued into the morning, but lessened somewhat. It was hard to lie down during the night, easier standing or walking back & forth. I am 63 y.o., female. Diagnosed 6 mos. ago w/ Vulvar SCC, have had 2 surgeries ( Vulvectomy & Rad. Inguinal Node Dissection) w/ 2 procedures of drain tubes, 1st above the node surgeries, & now (2) drains for the upper thigh (lympoceles). Stomach distended from lymphodema & probable lack of exercise due to difficulty moving with drain sutures & hardware. Back injury from post-op after last month s Node Dissection, where no one turned on the inflatable mattress on the metal bed I was on for 21 hours. But that was specific on the back s right side, at the waist. Went to Urgent Care. They checked the urine, 9 - 16 hours later. Came back with nothing. What else do I look for? or is it just a different kind of backache w/ left shoulder referral pain?
