What Do Dry, Rough Patches On Thigh Indicate?

Hello. On the outside of my left thigh ( Upper leg) There is several dry patches that do not itch, but are just rough. They do not bother me in any way, but they are there and I am wondering if it is questionable because more are starting to appear in the same area. What is this?
