What Does The Following Test Result Indicate?

right superior paratracheal limph node is 1.7 cm ,is that cancer of limph node , can that be cured --remove it ??? i had lobectomy right lower lobe in 2011,last pet scan shows problem with limph node !! please help me understand what is going on in my body and can that be fixed !!! Thanks for writing in.

Lymphnodes are structures which are in immune system. They enlarge in infections and conditions like cancer. Therefore if the PET scan shows changes then a cancer spread is to be suspected even when there is surgery done to remove the right lung lower lobe which had the cancer.

The lymph node measures 1.7 cm and this is small. Removal is recommended if there is no other lymph node in the area. If required then the area is to be given radiation therapy and chemotherapy to prevent other nodes from getting enlarged. It is good to treat right now and delay should be avoided. There is good chance of complete recovery. Please do not worry.
