What Is The Cause For Irregular Bleeding?

Hi! I had a baby on September 30, 2012. At my 6 week visit I was prescribed Ortho-tricyclen, which I started on November 23rd. On December 5th I started bleeding and have been bleeding ever since (its now December 12th). The bleeding is inconsistent, light sometimes, fairly heavy sometimes, or no bleeding at all for a few hours. I am very anal about taking the pill at the same time every day and have not skipped any. According to the pill pack, I am not due to start my period until Friday the 14th but I've already been bleeding for 8 days already. Do I continue to take the pill as normal? Is this bleeding my period? Is something wrong?
