What Is The Cause Of A Brown Discharge After A Depo Shot?

I recently stopped taking the depo shot, I was on it for 6 months and was supposed to go back August 5th,2013 for my 3rd dose but decided not to. I have not had a period since but 3-4 days ago I started having brown discharge and little brown clots. I have mild cramping also. I was wondering why this is?
