What Is The Cause Of Bruise And Pain On My Left Foot?

About 1 month ago the top of my left foot and my 2nd and 3rd toe was hurt very bad, then it got bruised. Went to the Dr. had xray they said no stress fracture. Yesterday I felt the same pain in the same foot and now it is bruised again and I can't hardly walk on it. What do you think it could be?
