What Is The Reason Abnormal Periods After Child Birth?

my baby is 11 weeks 2 days, on 20th July i got my period, 2 days bleeding, 1 day off and a further 2\3 days bleeding (bright red watery blood). I thought I was on cycle day 17 however am now spotting, not very much at all, more brown on pantyliner however inside bright red (not much). What is going on?
