What Relieves The Pain In The Ankle Due To A Fall?

I am 54, 105 lbs, and 5'5in...I had a vacumn fall over on the outside of my foot near the ankle yesterday. The pain was incredible when it happened & didn't know why it hurt so bad but kept on cleaning and then spent day wedding dress shopping with my daughter. I was having no pain during the day but got up around 1:00 AM to go to the bathroom & foot was hurting & looked red. Thought I had slept on it wrong so didn't think anything more until this morning...I got up and I assume it's bruised but it looks more like a burn actually and hurts plus I have some swelling...it's a weird hurt though and feels more like it's burning than pain. Not sure whether to contact the doctor or just baby it for a while...thanks
