Why Could A Pap Smear Be Advised?

hello doctor, i am 46yrs old .i got my periods after 5mths normal flow for 6days .just 2days before my period i had usg which showed nabothian cyst 10mm n cervix and endometrial echo 10mm.besides this everything is fine.after my visit to gyn she has prescribed vaginal suppositry clingen and taken pap smear ,the reults of pap are awaited.i have no pain no vaginal discharge then why ths pap test?
