Why Is My Armpit Hair Sticky And Smelly?

I have got a problem with my armpit hair. It has sticky wax like stuff stuck to the base of the hair where the hair joins the skin. It is uncomfortable and smelly. I am hygienic, was regularly and never had a problem like this. I dont use deodorant regularly and never have. I am a 24 year old male.
