Question : I am taking aderall xr 15 mg 1 a day and Xanx as needed 5mg . I only take the xanax every now and then when i wake up with panic attacks from my Fibro and Lupus. I was told by a friend thats a nurse the state of Tn will not allow you to take both and more and its not safe. I havent heard back from my Dr. but this dosnt sound right.

i can understand your concern. Adderall XR is an amphetamine drug and is a stimulant drug. Xanax is Alprazolam and the drug is a benzodiazepine drug and have relaxing effects. As Adderall is a stimulant the drug might increase the risk of anxiety and panic attacks in some individuals. Xanax can help to reduce that anxiety. But if the doses are skipped after regular intake the drug withdrawal can lead to panic attacks.
But if we consider taking these drugs together then Xanax would reduce the stimulating effects of Adderall and this is the reason these should not be taken together. Over all you can take these drugs together and its safe but both drugs tend to reduce effects of each other. This is the probable reason the prescription is not justifiable. Please take the drugs as per prescribed doses only and keep a gap of at least 2 hours between these drugs.
