Question : I was stung on the left wrist yesterday evening by either a paper wasp or a yellow jacket (I didn't really hang around to study it). No obvious allergic reaction - no swelling, difficult breathing, swallowing, etc. This morning, I have the following symptoms in my hand, fingers and forearm - mild tingling, burning and sensations of cold or warmth. Should I be concerned, or should this be expected? I've never been stung by this particular type of wasp before.

Hello!
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
Your symptoms are due to a local allergic reaction to wasp sting.
Since you had no symptoms of significant allergic reaction ,you don't need to worry.
These symptoms will go away in some days or 1 week.
You should apply cold compresses in the affected area
-You should take Benadryl 50 mg every 6 hours till your symptoms improve.
-Try a pain reliever, such as ibuprofen (Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) to ease pain.
If your symptoms get worse,you should consult a physician because a secondary bacterial infection is possible,otherwise you will be better in some days.
