Suggest Treatment For Pain In Either Side Of Head

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Sep 2014
Question: I have heache on either side of my head (usually monday evenings), which is pulsating ... Some times i burp a lot and it relieves partially and sometimes it goes after vomit ( moslt acid mixed with food is thrown out).

It was earlier triggered with some specific foods ( plain white refined floor/purpose floor) but now it happens on mondays. Watermelon/grape juice relieves pain but does not eliminate it.

I earlier gone throgh vitamin tests where nothing specific was found hence based on symptomps I believed that it is migraine but it's relation with stomach has confused me that it can be something related to gastric trouble too.

I do not feel either acidic or gassy before the episodes but there is a sensation in my head that something is wrong. I had visual migraine in recent times where my vision ( on left) blurs by 10-15% for brief time (about 30 mins) ... Not sure if this is related or a different issue.

Otherwise I am healthy with 6 feet and 75 Kg ... I do cycle 30 KM a day to my office and do regular work.

Any clues/guidance will help me take right medical course.

Hi Doctor,

Thanks for your support and the welcome.

Please see the details/comments inline below -

1. Since when ate you having these headaches?
Dutta - It started around 2008/9 (on alternate Saturdays, or when I went outside to theater or travel etc.).
During 2010/11 it reduced after change in lifestyle and taking some ayurvedic medication (Triphala Choorn).
I also observed that it is linked/triggered by MAIDA (Mc D or Pizza Hut, or naan etc.) hence I stopped consuming MAIDA, but in recent weeks it is happening without triggers.

2. Headache is on one side of head or on both sides?
Dutta- It is happening on right side(mostly) but 1 in 7 times it happens on left side too which causes bad gas or motion afterwards.

3. Any throbbing , vomitings , photophobia or phonophobia associated?
Dutta- Throbbing - Yes it is throbbing, sometimes I feel pain is gone but it bounces back at random intervals.
Vomiting - Is not usual (1 out of 5 headaches reach to that level of severity).
Photo-phobia - I dislike white/bright light very much and like to sit in dark (mood is also pretty bad/unstable).

4. How frequent are the episodes?
Dutta- Recent ones are weekly (Friday and/or Monday).
Last two years - It was once in a quarter.
2008/9 - Once in 15-20 days (was on weekends or upon going out or traveling long distances).
Now travel and weekend headaches are not there but it happens on Monday evenings.

5. Any relief in gastric issues on taking Pan D?
Dutta- Yesterday evening I took it first time and I was not 100% well, yet it helped in lifting my mood and today morning I felt better (which I do not otherwise, usually it feels like 10% of headache is yet present in form of heaviness).
Going in open area and walking helps and I usually throw up small amounts of acid/food during walk around 5-6 times full mouth.

6. Any band like sensation over the head?
Dutta- Not as such any band but the evening I have headaches, I get sensations in the noon that it is coming today. I can not focus on work or anything else. It spoils evening and sometimes next morning.

7. Headache is continuous or intermittent?
Dutta- Headaches are like random sign wave (up and down), sometimes I feel that I am alright but it bounce back in 10/20/30 mins... and disappears as well with random intervals.

Note - I do not feel any uneasiness or bloating in stomach, until pain goes to the peek.
Once it is at maximum level, I feel like throwing up and I do it voluntarily by putting my finger in mouth. Usually it is acid that comes out mixed with Juice (grape or watermelon that I take to relieve pain).
Even water is not absorbed by body during the episodes and I throw up any water or juices that I consumed in form of small pukes.
Massaging stomach causes long burps which relieves pain temporarily, I f I keep doing this, it helps.

With Warm Regards,
