What Causes Severe Pain And Swelling In The Ankles?

Question: I have pain in my ankle and the back of my foot starting from heel up about 5-6 inches. Hurts to flex my foot. Some swelling in ankle region on inside. It happens for a couple of weeks and clears up but returns in a couple of weeks.What could it be?

Hello,
I have studied your case. pain and swelling in your ankle can be due to either ankle cartilage damage or ligament problem. I would suggest you to get MRI of the ankle joint. This MRI will help us to confirm the diagnosis.
Till then I would suggest you to wear ankle binder and hot water fomentation. You can take advil tablet for pain relief. Volitran gel local application is also helpful.
