10 days ago I fell and now have a non-displaced fibula fracture, about 2” below the knee. I went to the local clinic and the dr. Sent me home with an ace wrap (he didn’t even put it on - just handed it to me still in plastic).
With every single step I take, I feel something moving around, inside. I can’t tell if it’s maybe a ligament or bone. I’m just not sure. Additionally, now that some of the swelling has gone down, I have very significant pain in the ankle not to mention that walking on this leg is excruciating! I’m starting to wonder if I have more damage than just the fibula fx. I had a previous fibula fx 20 years ago. Same leg but was close to the ankle.
I am a 55 year old female. I have Psoriatic Arthritis, am on long-term steroids, in addition to Remicade infusions plus methotrexate. I definitely have osteopenia. I am on meds for high blood pressure and a statin for high cholesterol. I take Rx Vitamin D once a month but due to my financial situation, I do not take calcium.
Can you tell me if this sounds like I received the usual and customary care for this injury? Due to some unfortunate circumstances late in my life, I’m on medicaid and seriously wonder if I receive the same quality of care as others do.
Thank you, in advance, for your response.
