10 Years Ago I Had A Pinched C1 Nerve That

10 years ago I had a pinched C1 nerve that caused pain in neck, left arm, thumb, index and middle finger. Radiated across left chest and left back. Lasted 5 mo!!
Recently, I had pain the very same place and now have shingles. Why the same place? Was it always a form of shingles? Is this nerve damaged?
