25 Years Ago Dr. Fowler A Plastic Surgeon I Believe,

25 years ago Dr. Fowler a plastic surgeon I believe, put metal plates in to hold my fractured jaw together. The surgery happened in Abbotsford BC, over the years I've always relised the presents of plates in my jaw from a numbness and sometimes itchy feeling, Lately its been bothering me , sharp pain and on going discomfort. Should the metal plates be removed and what is the healing process like ?
