86 Year Old Man Slipped On The Ice, He Went

86 year old man slipped on the ice, he went to a Dr. for x-ray - results no fracture was found so told a bad sprain. He was given some pain pills and told if not better in 5 days to come back asap. Before x-ray there was some finger pressure put on sore area, high hamstring area. 7 days since fall and only now does a bruise appear. Question should he be concern of a blood clot or is this normal?
