89 Year Old Women Broke Her Upper Left Arm Just

89 year old women broke her upper left arm just below her shoulder....small clean break dr put in a cuff cast with a dial to tighten or loosen. She saw the dr 2 days ago he took xrays and said she was healing very well. She had been in a splint like wrapping for 2 days prior to the cuff cast. The very next day after the dr put on the cuff cast her whole arm turned a red blue color kind of like bruising or maybe blood collecting. She went to the urgent czre at the hospital yesterday they did a test to see if she had a blood clot and there was none. They sent her home. Shuold she be concerned?
Or could it be just brusing from where she had the original splint.....she does bruise extremely easy3
