A Friend Of Mine Worked With Batteries Some Years Ago

A friend of mine worked with batteries some years ago and had his foot drenched in it. Now, there are still blisters and pain. Is there anything at all that he can do to help it heal and relieve the pain. I'm mostly trying to see what to do to stop blisters from popping up out of nowhere if there is even anything that can be done.
