A friend's wife - dx Alzheimers - was recently prescribed 25 mg capsule of Seroquel daily in order to lessen hallucinations. Not long after introduction of the med, she became extremely sleepy - as in almost impossible to awaken, missed meals, fell asleep several times during the day, trouble walking. The only other meds she is on are Vitamin B12, low-dose aspirin and something for acid reflux prescribed over 10 years ago and no one is sure it is still needed. The Seroquel has been discontinued, and she is showing some signs of improvement. Why is an anti-psychotic being given to an Alzheimer's patient. What are other options. The patient is a 70 year old woman who was diagnosed over 5 years ago and is currently in a care facility - Beehive. Her husband would like her not to suffer in any way. Youor input would be appreciated. Thank you.
It would be helpful had you indicated there was a fee up-front. I cannot pay the fee, so my concern will continue to be just that.
