A Very Good Friend Was Diagnosed With Colon Cancer Stage

A very good friend was diagnosed with colon cancer Stage 4 - metastasized to the liver one year ago. The liver had multitudes of lesions. Not operable (colon or liver) due to extent of cancer. He has had chemo now for a year and recently has been having fluid buildup in the abdomen. He had 10 liters removed last week and it was back within two days. I know this is not good. He won't ask the doctor life expectancy, but I would like to know as knowing helps me deal with it easier.
