A Week Ago I Tore A Gash In The Calf

A week ago I tore a gash in the calf of left leg down to fatty layer, which required 12 stitches. It bled profusely but didn't hurt, only felt burning sensation & don't experience that very much. Why hasn't it hurt, (not that I want it to.) PS: I'm an 84 yr old grandmother.
