AFter Working In The Yard Yesterday My Right Inner Elbow

AFter working in the yard yesterday my right inner elbow started itching...I probably rubbed it some and may have scratched it....later I got up to look and it had a redish rash like poison ivey...although I weeded some I didn't see any poison ivy in that area. I wonder which anti itch cream to use....hydrocortisone1% or diphenhydramine HCL 2% with zinc acetate.1%? I also want to know if I should wash that area before reapplying cream. I gave it an appliccation last night of the latter mentioned cream and also this am. No further itching and seems like it might be easing up. Don't know whether I should clean it before reapplying or just layer the cream over the same area.
