About 6 Months Ago I Was In A Car Accident

About 6 months ago i was in a car accident and injured my shin, but i ended up going to the county jail for 10days and didnt recieve medical treatment. After release i went to the ER for x-rays because my entire shin was very bruised and i could barely walk. They did x-rays and said everything looked fine but there was alot of swelling which could hide injuries.... now 6months later i still have pain to touch and sometimes walk. And there is still discoloration but not the entire shin just over the spot that hurts and is indented. Could there be a break or fracture that they just didnt see? If not why the pain and bruise like discoloration?
