About A Year Ago I Quit Going To The Doctor

About a year ago I quit going to the doctor to get my depo shot birth control, since then I have been getting my periods more regularly but I still go months without one. Within the past few months I have been having pain in certain positions during sex. Also, I should be pregnant but I am not. is something wrong or is it the depo shot causing these problems?
