About One Week Ago, A Red Spot Seemed To Appear

About one week ago, a red spot seemed to appear overnight on my left cheek on my face. It was about 3/8" in diameter, not raised, not painful, no secretions. For two days it was deep red but has lessened in color over time and now about 6 days later it is fading to normal skin color.
I believe I had something like this about 6-9 months ago. I developed a red area on my right temple. The shape was narrow oval, about 1/4 " long, somewhat raise like a skin lesion, dark red color, appeared suddenly. I thought I would probably have to get it cut off since it was unsightly. But it went away in about 4 days.
I am a 66 year old white male, general good health, somewhat ruddy complexion, sunburns easily, uses sunblock, has some sun damage skin burned off my balding head every two years or so, Have never been diagnosed with skin cancer.
Any information on the sudden appearance and disappearance of these two marks?
