.After A Slight Cold 5 Months Back I Developed A

.After a slight cold 5 months back I developed a cough which refused to clear up but mucous was difficult to bring up. Cough worsened seriously recently. Visited my doctor who prescribed cefexime, and inhalers - salmeterol + fluticasone and salbutamol (if cough was distressing). Cough somewhat better, mucous loosened. Medication continuing. Doctor says inhalers are preventive and not to worry. Should I be concerned and ask for check up of any underlying condition?
