After Showering, My Eyes Always Turn Extremely Red. It Somehow

After showering, my eyes always turn extremely red. It somehow lasts for hours afterwards. It does not matter where I am showering; at a friends up the street, three towns over or a different state. The type of shampoo and soap also makes no difference. I don't take showers that are too hot and I limit the water in and around my eyes to a minimum. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?!?!
