After Taking Hydrocodone (10/325) 6 Times A Day For 7

After taking hydrocodone (10/325) 6 times a day for 7 months, I have tapered down over the span of 5 weeks and have not taken any for 8 days. I am having horrendous withdrawal symptoms and wonder if I tapered off too fast. Should I back up and take a low dose (half a pill = 5 mg. of hydrocodone) now to relieve the symptoms? Will that help, or is that dangerous? Should I start this process again and try to taper off more slowly, or should I just soldier on through the withdrawal?
