After Xrays, I Was Told That I Have A Kidney

After xrays, I was told that I have a kidney stone (this past November, 2015). My main complaint at that time was pain in my shoulder, shoulder blade, and around front. Now, Feb. 29, I have been waking up in the early hours (2 am-3am) with lower back pain, so much so that I cannot get comfortable. My shoulder continues to be achy. Can you tell me approximately how long it takes before a kidney stone actually passes? I called in to have a CT scan as directed by the dr. but haven't gotten a call back yet, which was only about 2 weeks ago. Thank you for your attention.
