All Of A Sudden, With No Provocation, My Skin Seems

All of a sudden, with no provocation, my skin seems to be itching and scratching it does not eliminate it. I have no discernible rash, however. I am 81 years old and only on one aspirin a day and metoprolol tartrate25 mg per day only. In the past year I had insertion of a stent in left carotid artery because of 85% stenosis. I am a very healthy lady and feel like a 40-year-old. I do not know why my skin has just started feeling itchy. I have not changed soap used in showering, or any different hand lotion. A new kitty is recently in my home belonging to a person now renting one of my bedrooms, but that kitty looks gorgeous with no sores or disease, very clean as well. Is there an over-the-counter cream or pill I can take to relieve this itchy feeling. It has just begun in the past 6 hours. How do I send this message?????
