Am I Taking Lorazepam Correctly For My Anxiety While Waiting For The Increased Citalopram Dose To Take Effect?
Hi, I moved to the US recently and started a new job/ new home with my family. About 2 weeks ago I had a panic attack and has resulted in anxiety. I have been using Citalopram now for 13 years 20mg. The ER doctor also said that I need to increase this to 30mg. The ER doctor also prescribed Lorazepam 0.5mg and to take 1 table every 6 hours. I have been taking this now for 4 days every 6 hours. It is difficult to take during the night and I find that I wake up with hallucinations and panic attacks. I need to work and with this during the night, it has an impact on my mornings. The plan is to move off the Lorazopam as soon as the increase in Citalopram has kicked in. - Am I taking the lorazopam correctly - every 6 hours? Or should I only when needed? I am really anxious to not take the meds and then go through another anxiety attack. It is not fun to go through it! - If my Citalopram settles how will I know to reduce the lorazopam? Will I have other side effects. -How long would it take for the increased Citalopram dose to kick in? - I have read that Lorazopam is addictive and do not want to go through withdrawal symptoms unnecessarily by only taking it when needed? I try to be responsible when taking meds but cannot afford to be off from work or not be able to manage my home as a parent. I am really feeling crappy at the moment and would really appreciate your help with this. Thanks
