Am I Protected From Pregnancy If Missed Few Birth Control Pills?

I had unprotected sex las night and although i am on the pill i have missed a few pills in the packet (none for continous days) I asked doctor for morning after ill today but she would not give it to me, am i safe would u recomend i buy it over counter?
