Are Nuedexta Capsules Advisable For Early Signs Of Dementia?

My father is 75 years old, high BP & Cholesterol and was diagnosed with amnestic MCI about 6 month ago. Today he went back to primary physician who prescribed Nuedexta Capsules (Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide and Quinidine Sulfate Capsules). Does this make any sense and has there been any research to support Nuedexta with early signs of dementia?
