Are Birth Control Pills A Sufficient Protection Against Pregnancy?

I am currently on birth control and take my pill around the same time every day. Last week when I was having sex there may have been some leakage out of the bottom of the condom. I was suppose to get my period today and have not yet, should I be worried?
