Are Cramps And Pain Normal After Fitting Mirena?

I had the Mirena coil fitted last Tuesday and got cramping Tues evening, Wed was very painful then it went away and since Sat I have had really bad cramping and back pain. Is this normal, I have never had children so my doctor at the time of fitting told me I might suffer slightly worse ?
