Are Internal Bleeding Normal Post Lapartomy?

i had a laparotomy 3 weeks ago as i had an ectopic pregnancy, my tube had ruptured and i had internal bleeding. However, i still feel very bloated and swollen and my tummy feels particularly sore about 10cm above the incision, its almost like a little shelf? is this normal? and what are the signs of further internal bleeding?
