Are Nodules On Thyroid Malignant In Nature?

I was just told that I have two nodules on my thyroid. I have to have a needle biopsy next Thursday and am very nervous. My doctor felt something at a physical yesterday and today I had an ultrasound. I was totally shocked when I heard this news. Are these usually malignant?
