Are Pain Relief Patches Safe And Effective For Treatment Of Back Pain?

I am 65 years of age and have severe scoliosis which has become progressively worse as I ve aged, now about 90 degree curvature. Consequently almost constant back pain, but I m still able to be reasonably active enough for necessary housework, with pain relief medication when needed ! I have recently read about pain relief patches, though it seems they have side effects? Could you please advise side effects of patches, would they be a better alternative to prescribed tablets? most of which make me too zombie like!!! Thanks & regards Kae Burns YYYY@YYYY
