Are Stitches Necessary For Deep Cut Inside The Lip?

My daughter fell last night on our wooden steps and cut her lip in two places. One cut looks okay but the other on the inside upper side was very deep. Deep enough to lay open when I touched it. I am so worried. Should I take her for stiches? Do they put stiches in the inside of the mouth on the lip?
