Are There Any Antibiotics That Can Help With Diverticulitis Flareup?

Are there any antibiotics that can help with diverticulitis flareup? The drugs being offered are too harsh and I refuse to take them. Causing all sorts of digestive problems. I was taking augmentin w/ potasium and got violent vomiting and diarrhea. Finished a bit more than half but not taking again along with cipro.
